چکیده

conclusions this study indicated that the rv systolic strain and strain rate can be used to detect early rv systolic dysfunction in ssc patients without pulmonary hypertension. these parameters may be useful for the provision of a more adequate management of ssc patients. results in the ssc patients, the rv strain (- 19 ± 10 vs. - 25 ± 4 %; p = 0.004) and the systolic strain rate (- 1.3 ± 0.5 vs. - 1.5 ± 0.3, s-1; p = 0.03) were significantly lower than those in the control group. objectives the aim of this study was to assess strain-based measures of the rv systolic function in patients with ssc without pulmonary hypertension. materials and methods thirty-eight consecutive ssc patients (mean age = 48.1 ± 13 years) with normal pulmonary artery pressure and left ventricular ejection fraction and 27 healthy subjects (mean age = 53.2 ± 10 years) were investigated. the rv systolic strain and strain rate were assessed using standard echocardiography with tissue doppler imaging (tdi) and compared with the results of the healthy subjects. background cardiac involvement in systemic sclerosis (ssc) is a major risk factor for death. the aim of this study was to evaluate strain-based measures of the right ventricular (rv) systolic function in ssc patients without pulmonary hypertension.

assessment of right ventricular function by tissue doppler, strain and strain rate imaging in patients with left-sided valvular heart disease and pulmonary hypertension

background pulmonary artery hypertension is the presentation of various types of cardiovascular and systematic diseases. there are different kinds of noninvasive methods to determine right ventricular function, pulmonary artery pressure, and effect of pulmonary hypertension on right ventricular function. these methods include the tissue doppler imaging (tdi) of the tricuspid annulus and the lon...

Isolated right ventricular dysfunction in systemic sclerosis: latent pulmonary hypertension?

Right ventricular function is frequently abnormal in patients with systemic sclerosis, but whether this is related to pulmonary vascular complications of the disease is unclear. Standard echocardiography with tissue Doppler imaging was performed at rest and during exercise for the study of right ventricular function and pulmonary circulation in 25 consecutive systemic sclerosis patients and in ...

Right ventricular dysfunction in systemic sclerosis-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension.

BACKGROUND Systemic sclerosis–associated pulmonary artery hypertension (SScPAH) has a worse prognosis compared with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH), with a median survival of 3 years after diagnosis often caused by right ventricular (RV) failure. We tested whether SScPAH or systemic sclerosis–related pulmonary hypertension with interstitial lung disease imposes a greater pulmo...

Evaluation of Advanced Echocardiographic Parameters of Right Ventricular in Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension

Background and Objective: Pulmonary hypertension is an increase in blood pressure of the pulmonary artery which leads to right ventricular dysfunction. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare echocardiographic parameters in the study of right ventricular failure in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Materials and Methods: In the present descriptive cross-sectional study, data were col...

Prognostic value of right ventricular longitudinal peak systolic strain in patients with pulmonary hypertension.

BACKGROUND Right ventricular (RV) function is an important prognostic marker in patients with pulmonary hypertension. The present evaluation assessed the prognostic value of RV longitudinal peak systolic strain (LPSS) in patients with pulmonary hypertension. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 150 patients with pulmonary hypertension of different etiologies (mean age, 59±15 years; 37.3% male) were...
